The sport entertainment history of Roller Derby is too minimised in this article and it's sister article
[edit]From the 1930s to the end of the 1990s (a whopping 60 years, the majority of it's existence), Roller Derby was predominately a form of sports entertainment. This is made clear in articles such as this [1].
This article Roller Derby#History and it's sister article History of roller derby are quick to brag about the high attendance figures of 1930s to 1970s period, but minimise the fact that these attendances were part of the period when Roller Derby was sports entertainment. Roller Derby#Overview is explicit in calling this period sports entertainment, but Roller Derby#History is not. Similarly, the lead of History of roller derby is explicit about the sports entertainment nature but the body is not, in fact the body of the article is sometimes misleading. If someone were to skip the lead and dive into the body, they could forgiven for thinking most of the mid-20th century period was legitimate, based on the language.
It's not good enough to mention something in the lead of an article and then leave it out of the body. The purpose of the lead is to summarise the entire body, not act only as an introduction.
Both variants of Roller Derby should be respected in terms of Wikivoice and reference. I am not calling for equal length; I am calling for more clear language in the section(s) covering the sports entertainment period of Roller Derby in both Roller Derby and History of roller derby.
